Washington — A record number of American women’s volleyball players have taken the field at the 2019 U.N. Women’s World Cup in Russia.
The U.K., Canada, Italy and South Korea have all announced the addition of women for the tournament.
The U.R.1s and U.A.
S, both from the United States, have each announced that the tournament will feature a total of eight teams, and the U.W.A., the nation’s largest women’s soccer team, will field a single team.
The 2019 tournament is the first since 2013.
The World Cup has previously featured two sets of women, but the women’s side has typically gone to the semis.
